Camera Obscura originally ran from 2003 to 2007. Screening short films submitted by a throng of creative contributors from Sydney to South America and feature-lengths salvaged from archaic archives or exhumed from underground collections, C.O. quickly became one of Sydney's premiere dodgy experimental film nights.
In 2009, Camera Obscura is back due to popular demand. Every second Monday of the month we'll be screening a bevy of fresh and innovative material in our new home at Serial Space, Chippendale. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
We're already looking for new contributors and an unsuspecting audience to pack out our triumphant return on Monday the 13th of April. If you're interested in becoming a part of C.O. please don't hesitate to contact us - its a great way to meet like-minded film weirdos, have your work screened in front of an appreciative audience, and have a fun and, most importantly, free night out.
In our return screening we'll be showing last year's Electrofringe Short Film Festival entrants plus feature-length "The Phantom Carriage - KTL Edition" - The original silent horror classic by pioneering Swedish film maker Victor Sjöström, featuring an intense new soundtrack recorded exclusively by KTL (Stephen O'Malley of SUNN O))) & Peter 'Pita' Rehberg.
Monday the 13th of April at 7PM. Serial Space - 33 Wellington St. Chippendale
We also have a Facebook page for an easier way to stay up-to-date with what's happening at C.O.
